Well done to all the boys and girls in the Daisies for working so hard at home. Summer holidays are finally here so you can relax and enjoy them. I have to congratulate all of the boys and girls for their participation in the final Student Council Active Challenge and I was not surprised to see that the 2nd and 3rd class team, the Ravens, won!!! Well done to everyone who took part. This year has been a crazy one and it was hard not getting to see everyone and finish 2nd class together but you have all done so well in dealing with the changes and staying positive. I have had an amazing year as your teacher and I'm very proud of you all!

Have a look through the blog to get a reminder of everyone's activities and all of the fun games and projects you have gotten involved in this year. I hope you all have a lovely summer break with your families!

Ms Hassett
Matthew

Yacouba enjoyed learning all about the heart and made his own experiment to record his pulse before and after exercise. He also did races at home as well as the long jump with his brothers. Yacouba walked a mile with a smile everyday, to the school and back. Well done Yacouba! Yacouba wants to with everyone in the Daisies a summer full of sunshine and fun! He is really looking forward to seeing all of his friends again when he goes back to school.

Last week of 2nd class!

Hi everyone,
I can't believe it is our last week in 2nd class and your last week learning from home. What a crazy year this has been! You have all made me so proud over the last few months and you should be proud of yourselves too.

Our value this week is 'self-belief' which is one of the most important values and one of my favourites to learn about. The poster below shows positive affirmations which we should practice telling ourselves each day. Practice reading the sentences out loud to your parents, your siblings, your grandparents, your pets and even your toys. I have also added a video below that is linked to our value called 'Remarkably You! by Pat Zietlow Miller.

Yacouba
Hello to everyone from Yacouba! Yacouba is looking forward to his summer holidays and has also made a bucket list of fun activities to do with his family. Yacouba has done a great job at his maths activities this week and enjoyed learning about position and direction as well as right angles. He made his own angle monster to find right angles in his home. Yacouba enjoyed the ice activity so much that he did it twice! His brothers helped him to find different ways to melt the ice. They tried breaking it first but then realised it was alot easier to melt it. Well done Yacouba for all your hard work this week! :)

Hi everyone,

Can you believe we only have 2 weeks left of school? I hope you are all looking forward to your summer holidays and you are keeping busy with activities at home until then. Make sure to send me any news you have or if you want to share any art activities or projects you are working on at home with your friends, you can email me at r20mshassett@snu.ie.

I found a nice story for you that links in with our value of perseverance this week. Who remembers the story of Humpty Dumpty? This story follows on from that one and tells how Humpty Dumpty showed perseverance and courage to pick himself back up again.

Have a nice week,
Ms Hassett
Kristine

Yacouba
Yacouba wants to say hello to all his friends. He is enjoying all of his activities this week. He did a shape hunt with his friend and brothers on Monday. They found lots of different shapes but noticed that the main 2D shape they could see around the house were rectangles. Yacouba really enjoyed learning about different birds he could see in his garden and taught his brothers some of the names. They spotted many different birds but the rook was the one they saw the most. Well Yacouba on another busy week! :)

Hello to everyone in the Daisies! I hope you have all had a lovely week, even if it was a short week. Thank you for keeping me up to date with all of your news and fun activities at home. You all sound like you are making the most of the time with your families which is great! Send on any photos you have for the blog or any messages you would like to send to your friends in the Daisies.

I found a nice story for you that links to our value of 'Perspective' this week. The story is called 'Who is Melvin Bubble?' by Nick Bruel. This story shows how people can have difference perspectives and how it is important to listen to other opinions and see things from someone else's point of view.

Have a lovely weekend everyone,
Ms Hassett
Let's see what our friends are up to!

Yacouba
Yacouba has had a busy week and really enjoyed the bank holiday weekend! On Monday 1st of June he celebrated 'National Children's Day' (Medzinárodný deň detí). Yacouba celebrated this with his family by taking part in a treasure hunt at home that his mom organised. To get all the pieces of the treasure map, Yacouba had to solve some hard problems. When he found all the pieces of the treasure map he quickly found the treasure with his brothers, which was Pokémon cards! They had lots of fun at home! Yacouba has also been working hard at his maths and is getting much better at problem solving. Super work! :) Yacouba misses everyone in the Daisies and is looking forward to seeing you all again.

That is a very creative idea Rebecca! She also told me all about her flower pressing activity. She has a flower press but was also using heavy books to flatten different flowers from her garden and created some art pieces using these flowers. They are beautiful, well done Rebecca!
