We have been learning about report writing in 2nd class. We explored different reports and looked at how they were different from other pieces of writing. We were surprised to find different pieces of information about penguins hidden under our chairs. Our task was to piece them together in the correct section to create our own report on penguins. We did a fantastic job! 

We have been learning about coding using Bee-Bots in Daisies. We learned how to give the Bee-Bot instructions to make it move in different directions. We soon learned how important it was to have the instructions or the 'algorithm' in the correct order for the Bee-Bot to work properly. We used to Bee-Bots to practice our spellings and also to practice adding and subtracting. We had great fun and we look forward to more coding activities.

The Daisies have had a very eventful Science week. We learned about the properties of materials through exploring magnetism and floating and sinking. We also learned that sugar dissolves in water through our skittles experiment and that water does not mix with oil. We found out this when we made our own lava lamps!  We made fantastic predictions before each experiment and asked some great questions during the week. Well done 2nd class!

We have started to learn more about values and how to apply what we learn to our own lives. The children have enjoyed learning about how to have a growth mindset and to think positive thoughts about any challenges that they come across each day. We will learn about a difference value each week. 

2nd class have been working very hard at their maths. At the moment we are working on improving our understanding of place value as well as skip counting in 3's and 4's. We have been using a hundred square to help us as well as counters. Some of our new maths games include 'Flip it' as well as our 'Odd and Even' game. We have also been working on solving word problems involving repeated addition as well as two digit addition and subtraction.
