We really enjoyed reading the story 'Snowmen at Night' so we decided to create our own snowmen pictures using chalk on black paper. We focused on creating light and shade using different colours. We worked so hard on these and were very proud of how they turned out!
We have been busy learning about the water cycle – Daisies have very much enjoyed this topic, especially the water cycle song – it is very catchy! In Maths we have been looking at money. We are working on counting up different amounts of money and using different coins to make the same amounts of money. We are also working on finding change from 50c and also from €1 by counting up on the hundred square. We are continuing to work on using the strategies that we have been learning such as counting on and back, adding and subtracting groups of ten as well as breaking numbers into tens and units.
Any extra practice the children can get at using money at home is greatly appreciated! One fantastic website for playing money games on is https://www.teachingmoney.co.uk/eurosite/euroindex.html Our value for the next fortnight is patience. We are learning about what it means to be patient and we are talking about times when it can be hard to be patient. This is definitely one value that we work on and need to continue working on everyday at school and at home. |
