Good morning Daisies. I hope you are ready for another week of activities and learning from home. Make sure to send me photos of the fun games and projects you are doing at home as well as the work you have completed. I would love to see them and to hear from you. Well done to everyone who is keeping up to date with all of your work. I am very proud of you for taking responsibility for your learning. We only have 5 weeks left until our summer holidays so let's keep up the good work until then. :) I found a story that I think you might like. Enjoy! :) Ms Hassett Let's see what our class are up to this week Sweta Sweta us doing a great job at her activities this week. She is enjoying the nice weather and created a message for her friends using tea stains on paper. Well done Sweta! :) Kristine Kristine wants to say hello to all of her friends in the Daisies. She is enjoying doing the activities and is keeping up with everyone's news. Kristine has worked very hard this week on all of her activities, especially on her subtraction sums. She has also been working on some STEM challenges and crafts at home. Great work Kristine, keep it up! :) Lexi Lexi has had lots of fun at home this week. She loves going out to play in the sun and has also been going on lots of walks with her sisters. Lexi also told me that her garden fairy Lola is still sending letters and that she has pink hair! :) Lexi has also been enjoying doing some STEM challenges herself at home. She has worked very hard on her maths this week and has figured out how to do those tricky subtraction sums! Great work Lexi! :) Lucy Lucy is having a great time at home and has been making the most of the sunshine as soon as she finishes her work. She loves chilling out in her pool to cool down. She been exploring how things float and sink with her pool and dives down to get the items that sink. Lucy has also had fun painting rocks at home this week. Well done Lucy, they look great! :) Yacouba Yacouba is loving playing in the sun this week and is enjoying having water fights and spending time with his brothers. He has also been working hard and has done a great job on practicing his subtraction this week as well as working on his handwriting. Yacouba enjoyed learning about our value of 'tolerance' this week and completed the 'Despite our Differences' activity. He has been working on his cutting skills at home and completed some of his own STEM challenges. One of them was making a very long paper chain from 1 sheet of paper. Another challenge was to create a paper structure by making blocks shaped as triangles. His Pokemon have made a nice home from out of it. Yacouba also enjoyed doing the drawing challenge last weekend and also did a scavenger hunt at home.. Well done Yacouba, you have had a very busy week! :) Katie Katie wanted to show her friends just some of the activities she has gotten up to over the weekend. She has been keeping up with her work as well as practising her drawing. She enjoyed designing her dream room. Katie also created a house of cards. Katie has been practising her skateboarding skills and has also learned how to make paper airplanes. She is still enjoying some baking at home and made delicious jam buns. Katie also enjoyed the sunshine and had a picnic with Savannah at Liffey Linear park. When she was there she spotted Milly and Molly! :) Kristine Kristine has been busy at home! She enjoyed designing her playground and also did some leaf rubbings outside. Looks great Kristine!. Kristine has been keeping up to date with all of her work and is doing a great job at making sure her activities are presented very neatly. Super work Kristine, keep it up! :)

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I can't wait to see what you got up to. I'm also delighted to see that so many of you completed the time capsule last week. 2nd class have shown great resilience this year as they have faced many obstacles and have adapted quickly to a very unusual and confusing situation due to Covid 19. Although many of our class must wait until it is safe before they can make their First Confession and then their First Communion, lots of you still decided to mark the occasion at home with your families. I am so proud of everyone for making the most of your time at home and I promise you that your Communion Day will be twice as special when it finally happens. Adrian wants to say hi to everyone in the Daisies. He is missing everyone very much but likes seeing all the pictures and news on the blog. Adrian misses school but he doesn't miss getting up early so he is enjoying having a lie in some mornings. He has been very busy at home doing his Jolly Grammar and some other activities. Adrian has been working hard on practicing his reading at home. So far he has read 6 of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books and has also read other books like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Well done Adrian, that is super that you are reading so much! I can see that you are also keeping up your drawing and colouring at home! It's lovely to see that smile, I hope you will share more news with us soon! :) We all miss you very much and we can't wait to see you again! Sweta Sweta has been busy at home this week keeping up to date with all of her work. Sweta also wants to show her friends the scones she made. They look amazing, I'm sure they tasted delicious! She was very kind and gave us her recipe to try the scones ourselves. Thank you so much Sweta. We have some very talented bakers and chefs in the Daisies, I have no doubt someone will try your recipe. :) Kenaya Kenaya wanted to show her friends some of the activities she has worked hard on this week. She has been keeping busy at home and has been working very hard on counting and using money as well as finding change. Kenaya has also been working on her sentences and has been keeping up to date with her Jolly Grammar. She wants to say hello to all of her friends in the Daisies and she is enjoying seeing your pictures and reading all of your news. Lexi Lexi wanted to show everyone her favourite activities from this week. She did a fantastic job on her bee factfile and has presented it in a very creative way. Well done Lexi, I can see lots of interesting information about bees there! Lexi also enjoyed designing and creating her own playground using materials from home. She got some help from her sister to create red papier-mâché chairs, which look great. Finally Lexi enjoyed the 'Think Outside the Box' Challenge. Well done for a great week Lexi, thanks for keeping us updated on your activities.! :) Yacouba Yacouba has done an amazing job on his STEM challenge for this week, which is to design and create your ideal playground using materials from home. I am so impressed with this design Yacouba, I really like how you used different materials for each piece of equipment and it looks like your Duplo figures has a great time testing it out. Yacouba also enjoyed learning about bees and has presented his facts very neatly. To cool down in the sun and get rid of some energy, he enjoyed playing with water guns outside with his brothers and drawing on the wall with water. Yacouba is also enjoying reading books on Oxford Owls and worked hard at finding words from his Jolly Grammar activity in the dictionary. Well done Yacouba for another great week! Katie Katie wants to say hello to all of her friends in the Daisies. She's keeping an eye on the blog to keep up with all of your news. She also wants to show everyone the project she has been working on at home with her dad. It's like a fairy wonderland Ciara, you must have worked very hard on it! Well done! :) Ciara tried on her communion dress at the weekend to show her cousin and she can't wait to celebrate making her First Communion with her friends when it is safe. Thanks for telling us your news Ciara, keep us updated! :) Lexi Although Lexi was disappointed about her Communion being postponed, she decided to make the most of the weekend and celebrated 'Lexi Day' on Saturday instead. She got to take charge for the day and decide all of the activities! She enjoyed a fun sister slumber party on Friday night where she watched her favourite tv programmes and ate lots of treats with her sisters. On Saturday morning she booked herself into 'Ruby's Salon' where she got some lovely pink eyeshadow. Her family made her a basket of goodies that included fun things to play with and more decorations for her fairy garden! She made her favourite lemon cupcakes with strawberries for a special treat to eat. After dinner, Lexi had a special delivery of yummy sundaes from her favourite ice-cream shop! I hope you enjoyed your weekend Lexi, thanks for telling us all about it! :) Lucy Lucy had a lovely day on Saturday to mark the occasion of her First Communion date. She began her day by taking a trip to the 'Home Hair Salon' where they did a great job on her hair. She then enjoyed some baking with her dad and her little brother. They made delicious fairy cakes which Lucy really enjoyed. Lucy then caught up with members of her family through a video call and they had a family quiz evening. Sounds like you had a great day Lucy, I hope you enjoyed it! Lucy also wanted to show everyone her kite that she made, she had great fun with it! Jayden Jayden and his family had lots of celebrations in their house this weekend as they marked different milestones and achievements with a 'Just Because' party. Such a great idea and I like your sunglasses too Jayden.. very cool! I hope you had a fantastic day on Saturday with your family and enjoyed eating some of that delicious looking cake. Cillian Cillian had a lovely day on Saturday to mark the date of his First Communion. He went to Donnelly's Hollow in the Curragh, made tasty popcorn chicken and dip at home and helped out at the barbeque in his garden. He also got a.... wait for it... HARRY POTTER CAKE! :O Looks yummy! I hope you enjoyed your day Cillian, thanks for telling us about it! He's also really enjoying the Oxford Owls book and is challenging himself with a level 14 book at the moment called 'Robot Rampage'. Wow, well done Cillian! Yacouba Yacouba really enjoyed making his time capsule with his family. Everyone added something to make it special including drawings, a pokemon card and even flowers from the field that Yacouba plays in with his brothers everyday. Lots of special memories have been added which will be wonderful to look back on in years to come. Yacouba tried out one of the 'Think Outside the Box' drawing challenges also earned a certificate from all of his hard work on the IXL website. Well done Yacouba! :)
To all of the Daisies, including those who were supposed to make their First Holy Communion tomorrow, myself and Ms O'Lone miss you very much and we are thinking of you. I can't wait to celebrate your First Communion with you later in the year when it is safe to do so. She has been very busy keeping up with her work and doing lots of activities. She enjoyed reading books on Oxford Owl and her favourite book so far was Brer Rabbit. Lexi has also been working hard on IXL and even got a Certificate of Excellence for all the questions that she answered correctly. Wow, well done Lexi! Have a look at the paper airplane she made too. She had lots of fun testing it out with her sisters. Lexi also made a mini parachute for her My Little Pony, which she enjoyed testing out. The materials she used were paper, a stick, glue and string. Well done Kristine, let us know if it works when you get a chance to try it out! She also wrote a lovely poem about kites that she wanted to share. Kristine has been working hard on her maths activities this week and has gotten very good at skip counting as well as problem solving. She also tried the 'Take a line for a walk' art activity. Well done for all your work this week Kristine, thank you for showing us your activities! :) Sweta is keeping busy at home! Sweta is keeping very busy at home and has had another great week of activities.. She has done a fantastic job on her kite and also wrote a lovely poem to go with it. She is keeping up with all of her mental maths and Jolly Grammar activities too. Great work Sweta, you have worked very hard! Check out Yacouba's parachute! Yacouba has done a wonderful job on his parachute activity this week, which he really enjoyed! He made his parachute from a plastic bag, string and attached a Lego figure. He tested his design from many different places including dropping it from a tree, from the stairs, outside the window and from the fence. He also let his little brothers try it out to see if it worked and it did! Super work Yacouba! He has also been working hard on his time capsule this week and has enjoyed reading the Alien Adventures series on the Oxford Owls website. He has read 8 books on it so far! Wow!! Yacouba wants to tell everyone in the Daisies that he misses them alot but he is really enjoying reading everyone's news on the blog! He has been working hard at home and has been trying out the ebooks on the Oxford Owls website. He read the book 'The Deadly Cave.' Has anyone else tried any of the books? Janet is missing all her friends in the Daisies and wants to say hello to everyone. She is keeping busy at home and has been practicing her sketching and story writing skills. Have a look at the amazing chalk mural she created outside!! Very creative Janet, well done! She is having fun spending time with her family at home, learning new dances, playing card games and doing face painting. She has learned some great skills like how to load the dishwasher, how to chop vegetables, how to clean as well as helping to make the dinner. Children and adults are invited to collect rocks on your walk, take them home and wash them, paint them using bright colours and add them to the trail. Molly added her rocks to the trail. They look amazing!! Such a lovely idea girls, thanks so much for letting us know! :) Kristine is working hard at home Kristine is enjoying looking at everyone's photos on the blog and likes seeing what all of her new friends are doing. She is busy with her work at home and is enjoying the problem solving challenges. She had fun looking for things that weigh more than, less than and are equal to 1kg. She has also been working hard at Gaeilge and has done a great job at drawing and labelling her picture. Kristine likes to write stories in her free time and has also created a rules poster for playing with lego and play-doh. Hi everyone, from Maisie Maisie has been very busy at home this week and has been a great help looking after her baby brother with Sadie. They even helped to give him his first bath during the week and took him for a short walk so mam could have a little rest. Maisie said that Archie is the best little brother in the whole world and she loves watching him grow every day. Well done girls, Archie is very lucky to have big sisters that love him so much! Maisie enjoyed the maths activity this week and found lots of items that weighed more and less than 1kg. I must say, I love your tiara Maisie! :) Maisie and Sadie love going cycling every day with their dad. They decided to go to Linear Park one evening to see if they could spot any bats leaving their homes in the trees. Luckily, they spotted one just as they were going home and also saw a heron looking for his supper in the lake. Tell Lola that all the Daisies said hi! :) For her act of kindness this week, Lexi made dinner and helped to tidy up afterwards. Well done! She has also been having fun drawing with chalk outside, helping with her little sister Darcy and going for walks. She even collected some daisies on her walk! Lexi did a fantastic job on the 'Tinfoil Boat Challenge' this week. She tried out 2 different shapes for her boats and found that one shape worked better than the other and held alot more coins. Super work Lexi, thanks for telling us all your news! Yacouba the Pokemon Master Yacouba is keeping up to date with all the latest Pokémon information and tips. We have a few Pokémon fans in the class who will recognise this book! He has had a busy week at home and has been doing lots of activities. He was very creative when he figured out the answer to Tuesday's maths problem by using numbers he could move around himself. Great idea Yacouba, there are lots of ways to help you solve problems! He learned more about weight and items that weigh more and less than 1kg. For his comic strip, Yacouba chose to retell the story of 'The Three Wishes'. Who else knows this story? He really enjoyed making his tinfoil boat and tested it using blocks - it held 12 blocks!! For his act of kindness, he cleaned his brother's toys away as well as his own and even sang a song for his youngest brother. That was a lovely thing to do Yacouba, well done. As you can see from the last photo, he is really missing school and his friends but he is making sure to keep busy and loves looking at everyone else's photos on the blog! I hope everyone had a relaxing long weekend and is enjoying the beautiful sunshine. I miss you all so much and I am really enjoying getting updates of what each of you are up to at home. You are all making great use of this time off school by learning new and independent skills as well as making memories with your families, which is fantastic! I know it's very disappointing that we won't get to go back to our classroom again before September but the main priority at the moment is that everyone stays safe and that is the most important thing. As much as you can, try to keep up with a bit of school work during the week, as well as your fun activities. Make sure to let me know if you are finding anything difficult. I have uploaded some Go Noodle activities that you might remember as well as some new ones that I thought you might enjoy. I would love to hear more each week about how you are getting on and if you have any news for me, so make sure to keep me updated! I really miss doing our check-in circles and hearing everyone's news during the week and after each weekend. I also miss reading with our reading buddies - I hope all of you are doing lots of reading at home! Let me know what books you are reading at the moment. Let's see what our class are up to! STEM Challenge - Rebecca Rebecca really enjoyed the 'tinfoil boat challenge' in the activities this week. She designed her boat very carefully and it ended up holding 32 coins! She also did a great job with her maths activity, and organised items the items she found that weighed more and less than 1kg. Super work Rebecca! :) Hello from Milly and Molly! Milly and Molly are really missing all of their friends from school and wanted to say hello! They are staying busy at home with their work and are doing lots of other activities too. They have also had a go at making their own pizza! Yum! The girls have been making the most of the good weather too and have been going on lots of walks with their dog Jack to keep active. We all miss you to girls, keep us updated! :) Hello from Noah! Noah wants to say hello to all his friends in the Daisies and let them know that he misses them alot. He is having lots of fun in the sun at home with his family and has been enjoying making a splash in the new swimming pool. Check out his cool new hairdo!!! Noah is also helping out at home alot and has been cleaning his room and playroom, helping to make lunch for his family and has even learned how to change his own bed. Some great skills being learned at home! He is enjoying going for walks and found some lucky shamrocks while out exploring. Noah and his family made a beautiful picture of all of their handprints to remember Covid '19 and the time that they spent in lockdown. It's a lovely idea to create something you can all look back on in years to come.
