We have had a very busy February so far. Have a look at some of our work. We learned about St Brigid and her kindness and we even made St Brigid's crosses and created some lovely art pieces. We also learned all about the signs of spring and went on a spring scavenger hunt. We got creative with our art and have also been very busy learning all about telling the time in maths. We are experts now on o'clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to! We have been working very hard on extending our sentences and on our spellings too. We learned about how to write a letter. We have also been enjoying getting active and learning some new dances at home. Our value we have been learning about is 'responsibility' and we have also been enjoying some 'mindful moments' at home to help us to relax. Keep up the great work everyone and keep sending in those pictures to show your friends what you have been up to! WOW Writing!Just some of the wonderful writing done over the last while. We have been working on letter writing and I think everyone did an amazing job of following the guided activity to write a letter to a friend in Poland, which links in with our recent project we completed on Poland. I am especially impressed with the handwriting! Well done everyone who worked hard on this. Happy Valentines DaySome Valentines Day art activities by Maria, Patrick, Hannah and Fabian. I hope all of the Daffodils had a lovely Valentines Day! Draw with HannahHannah wanted to share her wonderful drawings with us that she worked on at home. She used ArtForKids Hub youtube channel and I think she did an amazing job. Well done Hannah and thank you for sharing. I have included the links for each drawing below if anyone else wants to have a go. Having fun in the snowSt Brigid's DayWell done to everyone who made their own St Brigid's Day cross as as well as some other arts and crafts. Spring is HereA beautiful collage and picture created by Maria. Out and AboutIt's great to see lots of walking, exploring, cycling, walking creating and games happening at home!
The boys and girls in the Daffodils have been very busy learning from home for the past few weeks. Everyone has been very active at home - getting out for walks, cycling their bikes, jumping on the trampoline and even having some fun in the snow. Some of you have also been very busy baking and learning some new skills at home! In our schoolwork we have been working hard on our maths where we revised our addition skills, learned about metres and centimetres in length and explored halves and quarters in fractions. We have practised our Gaeilge at home and have been reading lots of interesting books. We learned about homes long ago, materials that houses are built from and homes around the world. All of the boys and girls who completed their Poland projects did a fantastic job. I am so proud of all of you! Keep up the amazing work you have been doing so far everyone! Ms Hassett Busy BakingWe have been very busy baking at home. Well done to everyone who followed the procedural writing video and made their own bread. We even made scones! Thanks for the oatmeal bread recipe Liam! Poland ProjectsWell done to everyone who completed their Poland projects, You have all done a fantastic job! Having Fun at HomeWe have been busy with lots of different activities at home! Positive AffirmationsSome of our artwork based on positive affirmations.
Well done to all the boys and girls for their fantastic behaviour and enthusiasm in school as well as the positive attitude and resilience they have shown since they have returned to school. I hope everyone has a very relaxing and safe Christmas break with their families. Enjoy this video of our art and activities that we have enjoyed while preparing for Christmas as well as some jokes that gave us a good giggle. Nollaig Shona Dhaoibh!! Well done to all the boys and girls for their hard work on creating their own versions of Santa's sleigh. We had some very interesting and modern looking sleigh designs as well as traditional sleigh designs. Everyone did a fantastic job!
It might be Panto Day in Scoil na Naomh Uilig, but even so 2nd class are determined that we won't spend the whole day in our seats. So we've set a fun challenge for the SNU Advent Calendar with this dance. We had so much fun making this video for you and we hope you have fun trying out this dance with us! Well done Liam for being so generous, hardworking and helpful in school this week Keep up the good work!
This week we are learning about the different spellings of the /igh/ sound. Try to spot some of these spellings of this sound in your readers this week. We are learning about being generous and kind. Generosity is being willing to give and share what you have with others. You can be generous with your time, things or talents. Generous people want to help those in need and are always willing to share or help. When we are generous we don’t expect anything in return. Here are two stories that explore this value. We are working hard in maths learning about place value. We are now learning about hundreds, tens and units.
