Well done Alex for excellent behaviour in class and for working so hard in your handwriting as well as in Gaeilge. Maith thú!

We have been very busy this week in the Daffodils preparing for Easter. We learned all about the story of Easter this week and have worked hard on our creative writing as well as some Easter drawings. We have been exploring cúpla focail as Gaeilge for our theme 'An Cháisc.' We are really looking forward to our Easter holidays after all our hard work over the last few weeks! Easter Bunny ArtEaster Creative WritingWe have been working hard on our creative writing over the past few weeks. We learned about how to use adjectives and adverbs as well as using conjunctions to join sentences and create different types of sentences. Everyone did a fantastic job on their writing. Here are just a few examples of our writing.
We have been revising what we know about fractions and decided to test our knowledge by creating some fraction pizzas to show halves and quarters. We had great fun cutting out and preparing our pizzas and toppings and we created many different types of pizzas. Well done everyone! We also really enjoyed this video to refresh what we learned about fractions. Well done to Rosalee, our star of the week, for showing a fantastic attitude towards school, for excellent behaviour and manners and for always being a great friend.
We are very busy revising what we know about 3D shapes. We can use vocabulary to describe these shapes like 'edges', 'vertices' and 'faces.' We explored 3D shape nets today and create some 3D shapes with them. Can you name the 3D shapes you can see from the pictures below?
We have been working very hard on expanding our sentences and including details in our writing to make it more interesting. We learned how to add adjectives to our nouns and adverbs to our verbs to create more interesting sentences. We did a great job on our 'In the Spring I See' creative writing activity.
Is breá linn Gaeilge i rang a dó agus bhí seachtain an- ghnóthach againn. Bhí tráth na gceist againn, bhíomar ag damhsa 'An Dreolín', ag foghlaim an dán 'An t-Earrach' agus ag imirt Deir Ó Ghrádaigh. Bhíomar ag foghlaim faoi uirlisí ceoil traidisiúnta na hÉireann agus ag baint taitneamh a bheith ag éisteacht le ceol gach lá. Is é Cody Cainteoir na Seachtaine agus an Réalt na Seachtaine mar déanann sé iarracht an-mhór Gaeilge a úsáid i rith an lae. Maith thú Cody! Lá Fhéile PádraigWe really enjoyed creating some art to celebrate St Patrick's Day. We made rainbows and pots of gold out of paper plates. We also created some shamrock men and worked on our cutting skills to decorate our room with shamrocks. We learned lots of new words as Gaeilge like 'bogha báistí, pota óir, seamróg, Naomh Pádraig, Éire, suatheantais agus bratach.'
We worked very hard preparing some flower displays for Mother's Day. There was plenty of cutting, folding, arranging parts of flowers and gluing involved. Everyone did an amazing job on their flowers. We also read a lovely poem to match our art work.
We have had a very busy first week back with plenty of cutting and fine motor activities to ease us back. Some of the children completed wonderful spring acrostic poems while they were at home, have a look at them! We are so happy to be back in school with all our friends and we are working very hard in school! Planting FlowersWe have learned all about the life cycle of a flowering plant and planted our own flowers to explore this topic. We are very excited checking them everyday and making sure that they get enough water, light and space so they can grow. World Book Day 4th MarchWe absolutely love reading in the Daffodils so we were excited to dress up for World Book Day. We enjoyed some book-related activities today and discussed why we love books and who our favourite authors are. J.K Rowling, David Walliams and Jeff Kinney are definitely favourites in our class. We also enjoyed a 'Where's Wally?' activity.
Our value for this week is good manners. Thank you to Maria who created the beautiful display below for our value. I have uploaded the video we have explored in relation to this value. |
