Here are some photos from Gymnastics, our trip to the Curragh, Bizworld & Science Experiments which were some of the highlights of this term!
Bizworld was definitely one of the highlights of our year. Two employees from the Bank of Ireland came to our school and told us all about business. We had to create our own companies & marketing material and pitch these ideas to the "dragons". Fourth class came into our classrooms to bod their "biz bucks" on the idea which they thought was the best. We had great fun and learned a lot about finances.
We have started an exciting new project in 5th class, called CRAFTed. Design & Crafts Council of Ireland’s CRAFTed programme gives primary school children and teachers an exciting opportunity to explore their creativity and learn new skills by working with professional craftspeople. Our class was one of only three classes chosen in Co. Kildare. Professional artist, Isobel Egan will be joining us for 5 x 2hour lessons in April & May. Isobel is a ceramic artist with work exhibited in The National Museum of Ireland. You can find out more about Isobel here; http://www.isobeleganceramics.com/
This is a really exciting & unique opportunity for the children in 5th class. The children from the Buttercups will also be working with Room 23 on this initiative. The children will be working with porcelain clay. Their work will be exhibited in a showcase at the end of May.
We have been having a great time being active this week. We have had activities every day, promoting fitness, nutrition and healthy lifestyle. We have enjoyed dancing, hockey, basketball, fitness classes and guest speakers among other things. Well done to everyone involved & keep up the active homework outside school!
