What a great 2 weeks to remember in the Daisies. We were busy preparing and practising for Confirmation, we completed an historical walking trail of Newbridge, with a little stop in the Whitewater for a spot of lunch, and we finally celebrated our Confirmation on Tuesday 1st March with Bishop Denis Nulty. On top of all of this we started our dance sessions with Brenda and celebrated the official opening of our fabulous new library. Throughout these busy few weeks we have certainly done ourselves. our families and our school proud. Now onto Seachtain na Gaeilge and the 1916 Commemoration and Flag Raising!
On Tuesday 2nd February we travelled on the train to Kildare Town and had a tour of Kildare Heritage Centre and St Brigid's Cathedral and Round Tower. What a climb!! A little scarier than we thought. Even Ms. Goulding was happy to make it back down in one piece!!
Then on Thursday 4th, James Durney and Mario Corrigan, local historians, gave us a fantastic presentation on the 1916 Rising. We will be learning lots about this as we approach the 100th anniversary of the rebellion.
We had a very special assembly this morning. A party from the Defence Forces delivered our 1916 commemoration tricolour and copy of the proclamation read on Easter Monday 1916. We were very proud of two of our class, Ethan and Lee, who read part of the proclamation. Well done boys. You did a great job representing the school and the Daisies.
