World Book Day is a charity funded by publishers & booksellers in the Ireland & The UK. Over 100 countries worldwide celebrate this very important day.
Their mission is to give every child and young person a book of their own. Each child is given a €1.50 book token, which they can redeem for a free book, or put against the cost of a book of their choice.

World book day in scoil na naomh uilig!
How we celebrated World Book Day:
- all the children dressed up as a character from their favourite book or a cartoon/superhero character!
- each child brought in their favourite book.
- we partnered up with 5th class children for 'Buddy Reading'. The children in 5th class were given the tools on how to effectively read to and with the infants. All of the children from both 5th class and The Snowdrops, had a wonderful time and really enjoyed it!
- we had a class vote on a choice of books and the children got to choose their preferred book to be read to them before hometime by teacher!
