Congratulations Sophia! You are our Star of the Week for showing great social skills on yard, always trying your best in school and designing a super boat last week during Science week.
We had lots of fun creating some penguin art. We painted the background with our own choice of colours. Then using coloured card we cut out the different shapes needed to make a penguin. We then decorated the penguin with a hat and scarf. Lastly we sprinkled white paint over the page to give a snow effect.
This week we celebrated Friendship Week. We talked about what makes a good friend. Some of the key traits to being a good friend are loyalty, sharing, kindness, including others, support, helping others, trust, being fair and not judging others.
Congratulations Anna! You are our Star of the Week due to your excellent behaviour in school, your kindness towards others and your enthusiasm for everything we do.
We created some Cinquain Poems which are very simple and enjoyable to write. These poems are written on the theme of Winter.
This week we celebrated Science week by conducting a range of experiments in our classroom. We explored how water travels using cups of water, tissue and food colouring. We developed our coding skills using the Beebots, a big thanks to Ms O' Lone for leading this. We explored the concept of sinking and floating while also having great fun engineering our own boat from tin foil. This was a great week full of new discoveries. This week we have been busy learning about money. As a way of getting used to recognising coins and calculating change we decided to set up our own mini shops. Children priced some of their belongings and patiently awaited some customers. This was a great way to practice scenarios that will happen in real life when we go to the shop to spend some pocket money.
Today we had lots of fun exploring magnets and seeing what materials in our environment are magnetic. We discovered that materials such as wood and plastic are not magnetic but metal is. We than created our own paper racing car and stuck a paper clip to it. We placed it onto a piece of paper and using the magnet under the piece of paper we had a race. Have a look at our pictures.
Congratulations to Thomas our Star of the Week. Thomas comes to school every day with a lovely warm smile on his face. He is thoughtful to others and always tries his best during our lessons. Well deserved Thomas!
