Athbhliain faoi mhaise daoibh agus Bail ó Dhia ar ár gcuid oibre i mbliana. Happy New Year to everyone and God Bless all of our work for this year.
Thank you for your support during the past year and I hope we will all have a healthy, happy and fruitful 2018.
Can I remind you how important it is to have your children in school every day, unless they are sick. If your child is absent or needs to go home early, a note is required for the class teacher.
Swimming
There will be no swimming classes until after the mid-term break in February.
Winter Flu Advice
The Department of Education has endorsed the HSE’s advice on not sending children to school if they have flu-like symptoms. As parents please make yourself aware of the symptoms of flu and teach your children good health habits to help stop the spread of germs.
Further information is available through the HSE’s website as follows and a link can be found on the School Website.

Food Dudes
Your child will be receiving an information leaflet over the next week or 2, outlining a healthy eating programme which will be starting in the school later this month. As part of the programme your child will receive a piece of fruit & veg each day. Further information will be outlined in the leaflet.
Toys for Aistear Programme
Our Junior Infants classes are looking for donations of toys for our Aistear programme, under the following themes: Camping, Halloween, The Bus Station, The Dentist, The Clothes Shop, The French Bakery, The Italian Restaurant, The Vet, The Toy Hospital, The Travel Agent and The Post Office. If anyone is having a clear-out of toys at home and have any toys that fit these themes we would be delighted to receive them. Many thanks.
BAG2SCHOOL
Please drop the bags in the back of the big hall at school pick-up times on Monday(15th) and Tuesday(16th) morning
Dear Parent/Guardian,
The Parents Association is running a clothing collection in January in conjunction with Bag2School Ireland.
By getting involved in our Bag2School collection you have an opportunity to sort through your wardrobes and donate any unwanted textiles in the bag provided.
This can include adult and children’s clothes, shoes (tied together please), hats, belts, bags and teddies.
Please NO Duvets, Pillows, Curtains, Bedding, Towels or End-Of-Life Clothing
This will raise funds for the school and The LauraLynn House will also receive an additional 10% from Bag2School. The LauraLynn House is the only Children’s Hospice in Ireland.
In addition it will raise awareness amongst the children of the benefits of recycling and reuse.
Bags are being distributed to each child today and should be brought back to school on Monday 15th January or Tuesday 16th January. Please try to fill as many bags as you can, don’t forget to ask grandparents, friends and neighbours to have a sort out as well! You can return clothes in any kind of bag.
Many thanks for helping us with this unique fundraising opportunity!
