Junior Infant Enrolments for 2018
Letters of offer for Junior Infant places in our school for September 2018 are being posted today. The closing date for acceptance of a place in Junior Infants is 14th February.
Reminder: Pupil Punctuality - On time and every day
This week, on one morning alone, at least 80 children were late coming into school, arriving between 8.50am – 9am. School starts at 8.50am. In this school, children start moving towards their classrooms, as soon as the bell goes, at 8.50am. We would respectfully ask you to allow for adverse weather conditions and busy traffic when planning your child’s journey to the school in order to have them here on time. Thank you for your co-operation.
We have received feedback from families who feel that, at times, their child/children’s schoolbag is too heavy. We would like to ask parents/guardians to encourage their children to only take home books necessary to do their homework and to leave as many of their books in school as possible. Many thanks!
Computer Club
Last year Scoil na Naomh Uilig ran a computer coding club. We hope to expand the club this year, commencing later this month. The weekly cost per child will be €2. We ask parents of interested children from 1st to 6th classes to fill out the permission slip overleaf and return it to room 33 or room 13 by Friday 9th February.
A night at the Musicals
Monday & Tuesday 12th & 13th February.. Tickets are selling well and are available through the school office. Adult €8, €4 child and €20 for a family.
Grandparents Day
A big thank you to all the grandparents who attended our prayer service and visited classes yesterday, to celebrate Grandparents Day. We have had some lovely feedback from our Grandparents and it is very much appreciated.
I would also like to take this opportunity to say that we were overwhelmed with the response and the number of grandparents who attended. Thanks to all of our parents who respected my request to make room for the grandparents to enter the Hall. The overcrowding was a Health & Safety issue On many occasions, parents are invited to attend various events that take place in the school – Masses; carol services; parent information evenings; parent/teacher meetings; Active School’s Week; cake sales etc. The only occasion that grandparents get to visit their grandchildren’s school is on Grandparents Day. I am aware that due to the large number of people in the hall yesterday, not all grandparents were able to fit into the hall. In light of this and space issues we will review our arrangements for next year.
While it’s a lovely occasion for grandparents and their families, we know that not all grandparents are in a position to attend the event. Indeed, we wouldn’t be able to accommodate everyone if we had a full attendance, but we value this day and would like to mark it in an appropriate way.
Thank you.
Safer Internet Day. Is an EU wide initiative to promote a safer internet for all users, especially young people and is happening on Tuesday next February 6th 2017. We would encourage parents/guardians to discuss Internet safety with your children. Information for parents/guardians can be found on http://www.saferinternetday.ie/parents/
