REMINDER: IMPORTANT NOTICE SCHOOL CLOSURES
IN-SERVICE DAY
SCHOOL CLOSED FRIDAY 18TH JANUARY 2019.
Please note that the school has been directed by the Department of Education to hold a Compulsory In-Service day to facilitate training for teachers in the new Primary Language Curriculum. The school will be CLOSED on Friday 18th January 2019
 
Jnr Inf. Applications for Scoil na Naomh Uilig  2019/2020
Applications for school year 2019/2020 are now open.
Please note that if you have a child starting school next September go to the Parish Office and fill out the application form indicating Scoil na Naomh Uilig as your choice of school.  
CLOSING DATE 19th December.

Set down area and Bus parking:
Please be reminded that between the times of 1.15pm - 1.45pm and 2.15pm - 2.45pm the following parking guidelines apply:  The set down area in front of school is reserved for permit holders only. The bus parking area in front of the hall is reserved for buses only.
Staff members enforcing these arrangements, are working under the direction of the Board of Management, and as such need to be respected at all times.

Swimming tomorrow 30th November, for Mr. Forde’s 5th class and Ms Curran’s 4th class.
 
ALADDIN CONNECT and THURSDAY NOTE:
The Thursday note will be sent home with your child today and will also be sent on the Aladdin Connect App.  From next week onwards you can let your child know if you would like to receive it only on the App. By Christmas it is hoped that it will only be available on the App or on the School website.   
If you still have not successfully installed the app on your mobile device please contact the school.

Santa visiting the school!! Santa is visiting the school next week on Wednesday 5th December. He will arrive here in his sleigh and all the children will get to see him.  To mark the occasion we are holding a Civvies Day/Christmas jumper day on 5th December. Children can bring €2 with them to school on that day. Monies raised will be donated to Temple Street Children’s Hospital.
 
HEALTHY EATING POLICY 
Dear Parents/Guardians, as you know we have a healthy eating policy in our school. Here are some foods that are not in line with our healthy eating policy.
  1. No chocolate products of any kind – No chocolate yogurts, no chocolate rice cakes, no chocolate spread etc.
  2. No cereal bars
  3. No crisps
  4. No popcorn
  5. No fizzy drinks or sports drinks.
 
PEACE PROMS
Tickets for the Peace Proms are now on general sale. At present more than 75% of audience tickets for all venues have been sold. Once the tickets are sold, no further seats will become available. Tickets can be purchased from the Peace Proms website. The children are performing at 8pm on Saturday Feb 2nd. The children are also taking part in a rehearsal on Dec 12th in the RDS. A bus will be provided by the school to both events. More details to follow. Thanks a million

Shoe Box Appeal Thank you to everyone who participated in the Shoe Box Appeal. Your support, generosity and participation in this initiative is very much appreciated.

The National Parents Council (NPC) has been asked by the Department of Justice and Equality to make a submission on behalf of parents about the EU Commission's proposal to end seasonal clock changes in 2021. 
 
Before making this submission, NPC would like to hear from as many parents as possible to ensure our position is informed and representative of parents views around Ireland. We have compiled a survey for you to complete click this link

Cake Sale- The Parents Association raised just over €1,000 at the Cake Sale. Many thanks to everyone who baked/bought cakes and to all who helped out on the day.
 
Shoe Box Appeal please return shoe boxes before tomorrow Friday November 16th. Please read leaflet carefully with regard to what items are allowed to be included. All items should be new. Many thanks again for your support and generosity.

 
Christmas Cards: all order forms along with the money should be returned at this stage. Unfortunately late orders will not be accepted by the Suppliers. Thank you

Parking Regulations
The school has grown so much that there is no parking facility for any parents, except those who have parking permits in the set-down area at the front of the school during drop-off and collection times.

Parents are not permitted, under any circumstances, to park in the staff car park.  For health & safety reasons, this car park must remain accessible to staff members at all time.
These regulations are in place for the safety of our children and the school community and must be observed, without exception. Failure to comply with these will result in the gates being closed at collection times.

2nd Class Computer Club: No second class computer club next Tuesday 20th November due to ParentTeacher meetings.  They will continue for a further 2 classes after that.
 
Art Club There will be no art club next week due to Parent/Teacher meetings,

Dear Parents/Guardians                
 
Welcome back everyone! I hope you all had an enjoyable and restful mid-term break!
 
ALADDIN CONNECT:
PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE APP NOW
 
Many thanks to everyone who has downloaded the Aladdin Connect App This will facilitate easier communication between parents and the school.
 
Parent Teacher meetings will be held later this month and will be scheduled through the App.  If you have not already received an email with your registration link, along with detailed instructions on how to download the App, it means that we do not have full or correct email details on our system for you.  Please contact the school with your correct or updated email so that we can get you started using the system.  Thank you.

Swimming tomorrow 9th November, for Mr. Forde’s 5th class and Ms Curran’s 4th class. The cost of the swimming for your child will be €30 for 6 sessions, which includes transport. This amount must be paid in full by sending it into the class teacher or paid online through Aladdin.

Witches Walk – Almost €5,000 was raised for our Witches Walk this year. Thank you to everyone who contributed and supported our fundraiser. The monies will go towards the installation of a new Astro Turf Pitch for the children. There is a small number of sponsorship cards not returned, please ensure all cards, even blank ones, are sent into the school immediately.
Cake Sale- there is a number of tins/containers still in the school following the cake sale. Please arrange to collect them if belonging to you.
 
Christmas Cards: please return order forms along with the money to the school teacher on or before Wednesday next 14th November. Thank you.

First Holy Communion –  2nd classes will make their First Holy Communion on 18th May 2019 at the following times:
 Miss Fitzgibbon’s class 3pm
 Miss Fennelly’s and Ms Corbally’s at 12pm

 Christmas Annuals
Annuals are available from tomorrow for pupils in each class and cost €4 each.
 
 
Peace Proms: Our school is taking part on Saturday 2nd February at 8pm in the RDS, Dublin Exclusive Peace Proms tickets pre-sale for parents takes place from Monday 5th – Sunday 11th November. General tickets go onsale Monday 12th November. Tickets can be purchased from http://peaceproms.com/dublin-tickets/

Pupil Insurance: All pupils in the school who have paid their GP fee are covered by 24 hour pupil insurance. This means that they are covered by insurance for any accidents/injuries they may have, even when they are not in school. The claim form can be downloaded from the following website, completed by parents and signed by the School Principal. Parents/guardians can then return the form, along with doctor/hospital receipts to the Insurance Company (details are on the form), quoting the policy number.   https://www.allianz.ie/schools/pupil-personal-accident/how-to-claim/
