Dear Parents / Guardians
As we begin our final week of this school year I want to congratulate all of you and particularly your children on getting to grips with balancing learning from home and engaging so well with your teachers and practicing patience while the country and the education system tries to navigate our way through Covid-19. Thankfully our country is coming back to life again and hopefully our education system will get to grips with getting all our young people back to school properly and safely at the end of August. 6th Class Leavers Tomorrow we formally mark our 6th class leavers end to their time in Scoil na Naomh Uilig. We wish each and every one of them success in their move to secondary school. Although it’s not the goodbye we had envisaged, it is being marked in a number of different ways by all the class teachers of The Poppies, The Sunflowers, The Bluebells and the 6th class rooms. A video will be uploaded on the website and myself and Ms. Goulding are hoping to meet the classes via Zoom tomorrow. Links have been sent to parents. Congratulations everyone but don’t forget to take part in our sports week next week!!! Today, marks the beginning of Sports Week at Scoil na Naomh Uilig and the children will enjoy doing the activities set out by the teachers! It was lovely to see so many of you again yesterday collecting and dropping back books, art materials etc.! It was heartening to see some life on the school grounds once again! I want to draw your attention to a couple of items as follows: School Reports were released to all parents on the Aladdin App yesterday along with booklists and the school calendar for next year. I hope the children were happy to get feedback from their teacher on how well they have done in school this year. Booklists are also available on the school website, Farrell's bookshop in Newbridge and Easons bookstore in Whitewater. We are still awaiting guidance from the Department of Education on what our return to school will look like on Thursday 27th August. We are working on the premise that all the children will be back in school on August 27th while complying with whatever directives are issued from the Department of Education. School Enrolment numbers If you are aware of any pupils that may be leaving or enrolling in Scoil na Naomh Uilig please ask them to contact the school on the following email address: office@snu.ie Class teachers for next year: because of the changes brought about by Covid19, school management has not yet received clarification from the Department of Education on staffing and the appointment of staff for the next school year. Full information on the details of what this charge covers is contained in the Book Lists. Therefore, we have decided to reduce the charge for the coming year as follows: €70 for 1 child €120 for 2 children €150 for 3 children or more School Office The school office is attended on Friday mornings until 1pm.
