Dear Parents/Guardians

HOLIDAYS

Just to remind you that school holidays begin tomorrow Friday June 30th at 12 noon. Reopening Wednesday 30th August at 8.50am. May I take this opportunity to say thank you for all of your support during the past year. We wish you a happy and a safe summer and we look forward to seeing you all again in August for our new school year!

Staff Changes at SNU: It is with great sadness that I wish to inform you that Ms Geraldine O Sullivan will resign from Scoil Na Naomh Uilig to return to her native Cork this summer. We wish Geraldine the very best for the future.

Ms Roseanne Fox is taking a career break. We wish her the very best on her travels and are looking forward to her return in the future.
We welcome back Ms Nicola O Lone from her career break. We are looking forward to seeing her in September.

There will be a number of appointments made over the holidays to replace staff on career break, job sharing or maternity leave. These appointments when santctioned by the DES will be posted on our school website, for your information.

Pupil Numbers for classes in Scoil na Naomh Uilig for next year.
At the moment we are organizing our classes & teachers for next year. Teaching jobs are sanctioned by the Department of Education based on the pupil population. It is very important to us and we work very hard to retain our pupils. Therefore, we would appreciate it if you could give us plenty of advance notice if you are planning to move from this area.

Oxford Readers: please return any Oxford Readers that may have been left at home. The cost of replacing single titles is expensive.

School Kit: any shorts from the school kit that may have been brought home,  please return to the school by tomorrow.

Diocesan Picnic in Punchestown
The Diocese is running a family picnic on Sunday 27th August in Punchestown Race Course.  This will be an exciting day and families are welcome to attend.  There will be music and entertainment provided with food stalls and picnic facilities.  You are invited to bring a picnic and a little extra to share.  The picnic is from 2pm to 6pm with the official launch at 3pm.  Bishop Nulty will lead a walk around the racecourse after the opening.  It promises to be a fun day full of celebration.

Parents Association:
Advance notice that the PA will be organizing a Bag to School appeal this coming October.  If you are doing a clear out over the summer months you might think to hold onto any bags with clothing, shoes etc for the collection.  Monies raised go towards the school with a donation to Laura Lynn.

GP Fee for 2017/2018 –Total cost for :
1 Child is €100,
2 Children in the same family €160,
3 or more children in the same family:  €200.   The Book Rental fee has been itemised separately this year and is fully explained below.  These costs were lowered during the recession to alleviate financial pressures on families.

GP Fee for 2017/2018
The GP fee covers book rental, 24 hour insurance, school journal as well as the provision of laptops and iPads for the children. The Board of Management has decided to separate the book rental element from the rest of the  GP fee. To facilitate the purchase of books and equipment,we are asking you to pay this book rental fee before the end of the school year as follows:

The book rental fee is:
Junior Infants to 1st class (inclusive) €50
2nd class to 6th   class €75.

The balance of the GP fee up to €100 (€160 or €200) must be paid before 15th September.
Because so many books are bought by the school, every child benefits and the number of books that need to be purchased by families is greatly reduced.
The school office will remain open, up to and including 7th July. Online payment is available (details on school website). We also operate a “payment by installments” scheme to facilitate easy payments. Please contact the office to collect a form.

Thank you for your co-operation with the above.
