Dear Parents/Guardians 
 
It is with great sadness that I wish to inform you of the death of Brother Pat O’Neill RIP.
Brother Pat was a valued member of our staff for 11 years. During those years he volunteered his expertise, care and knowledge free of charge. His approach embodied "Uile le Chèile "and his contribution has left a lasting legacy to Scoil na Naomh Uilig.

3rd Class swimming lessons continues in Spin on Thursdays for another 2 lessons.
 
School Reports
This year the school reports will be made available on the Aladdin App to parents/guardians on June 18th. In order to receive your child’s school report please ensure you have the Aladdin App downloaded on your mobile phone. For this year only if you wish to receive your child’s report by post you need to send in a self-addressed stamped envelope to the class teacher.

Sports Day
We will be having our annual Sports Day on Wednesday 29th May, Children to wear tracksuit/t-shirt & shorts and extra fluids packed.  Apply sun lotion in the morning before coming to school if necessary!!!
Mobile Phones Please note that children are not permitted to bring their mobile phones into school.
In exceptional circumstances if your child needs their phone, written permission must be sought, in advance, by parents / guardians and the phone must be handed into the school office for the day.

First Holy Communion
Congratulations and well done to the children in 2nd class who made their 1st Holy Communion last weekend.
 
Football, hurling and camogie has ceased for the school year. There was a big drop-off in players over the course of the year and we would ask parents to encourage children to play one of the sports that the school offers next year
 
Civvies Day Fundraiser: Sarsfields U14 girls team were successful in winning the County Kildare Féile. The team have now qualified for the national competition, In support of them we are holding a non-uniform day. Children are asked to make a donation to wear their civvies on Friday next 31st May. Thank you.

Pupil Numbers for classes in Scoil na Naomh Uilig for next year.
At the moment we are organising our classes & teachers for next year. Teaching jobs are sanctioned by the Department of Education based on the pupil population. It is very important to us and we work very hard to retain our pupils. Therefore, we would appreciate it if you could give us plenty of advance notice if you are planning to move from this area.
 
A Second Hand Uniform Sale/Swop will take place on 19th and 20th June – this initiative is an opportunity to enable parents dress their children for school at a reduced cost. Sale/Swap on 19th and 20th June from 1pm – 3pm facilitated by the PA. More details will follow.
 
Donations of good quality school uniforms/tracksuits are required and can be left into the school during the school day.
 
JUNEFEST - YARNBOMB: The Linear Park in Newbridge is always beautifully adorned with hand-knitted pieces for Junefest each year. Once again Scoil na Naomh Uilig will have a tree decorated with pieces handknitted by members of our school community. If you get an opportunity to take a walk there please keep an eye out for our tree!!!

General Purpose and Book Rental Fee for 2019/2020 can now be paid online through the Aladdin app. The charge is as follows:

2 children €150
3 or more children €200
the Book Rental portion of the charge is used for the purchasing of books and equipment and the remainder of the GP charge covers 24 hour insurance, school journal, photocopying, folders, art materials, paper, charts, library books, crayons and colouring pencils, white boards, handwriting books, gymnastics, guitar, dance, safe cycling lessons, as well as the provision of laptops and iPads for the children.

Reminder of Scoil na Naomh Uilig Dress Requirements 
  • I would like to remind parents/guardians to buy black leather shoes only, when purchasing school uniforms for your child/children, over the summer months. Pupils are required to wear dark, leather, flat shoes. Canvas shoes/runners are not permitted on uniform days.
  • During warmer weather, please be reminded that children are permitted to wear knee length dark shorts (or worn tracksuit/trousers cut short), along with white Tee/Polo shirts or the school shirt, if they are too warm.

St Conleth’s Community Games Area Athletic Finals will be held on Monday next 20th May at 6pm in Newbridge Athletic Track.  All children living in the St Conleth’s Area between the age of 6 and 15 are welcome

School Uniform Sale
The School Uniform Sale will take place in the school today - Thursday and Friday 9th and 10th of May from 12.00noon to 4pm. All items will be 10% less than the shop price on those dates.
Please note that from September 2019 parents do not need to buy new uniforms for Senior Infant children as they will wear tracksuits, in line with changes to our policy. As Senior Infant children may have uniforms that still fit them they are free to wear both.

Child Protection: Please be reminded that our Child Safeguarding Statement and our Risk Assessment documents, reviewed at our recent Board of Management meeting, are available to view on the school website and will be appraised at the next Parents Association meeting which will be held on next Tuesday evening 14th May at 8pm. You are invited to attend and we would welcome your input at our meeting.

Dear Parents/Guardians 
Welcome back everyone! I hope you all had a lovely, enjoyable Easter break!
 
Holiday Reminder!!
May Bank Holiday – the school will be closed on Monday next 6th May for May Bank Holiday
June Bank Holiday –the school will be closed on Tuesday 4th June also.
 
Swimming commences next week, Friday 10th May for Ms Kelly’s 5th class and Ms Heavey’s 4th class.
3rd  Class swimming lessons in Spin on Thursdays commencing today 2nd May and will continue for 6 lessons.

Saturday next 4th May: As part of the celebrations for the 1500th anniversary of the death of St. Conleth, Bishop Denis Nulty will celebrate the 6pm Mass in St. Conleth’s Church on Saturday, May 4th. The mass is a “Celebration of Faith in Newbridge” Our school will be represented during the procession. Board of Management, Staff and all families have been invited by to attend this celebration.

School Uniform Sale
The School Uniform Sale will take place in the school next week on Thursday and Friday 9th and 10th of May from 12.00noon to 4pm. All items will be 10% less than the shop price on those dates.
 
May 9th marks Europe Day celebrated by the European Union. We will be celebrating it in school on Thursday May 9th. 
All children are allowed wear clothes representative of a EU country e.g a jersey or clothes the colour of the flag of the country. All classes have been assigned a country and children may choose to wear clothes representing that particular country and also have the option to wear clothes representing a different E.U. country if they wish..The children should be able to tell others which country their clothes are representing.
