Dear Parents / Guardians

I hope you all had a lovely rest last week and all the children are feeling refreshed and ready for our next school term!!

COVID – 19
Further to the information issued through our Aladdin App yesterday, which is also available on the school website, I would like to draw your attention to the following:
Please note that a number of families who travelled during the mid-term break did not travel through or stay in any of the affected areas and this has been confirmed by their parents.
There are 2 things we would like to encourage your children to do: wash their hands regularly and thoroughly and practice good respiratory hygiene – catch it, kill it and bin it. Tina, our Nurse, demonstrated to the children yesterday how thoroughly they should wash their hands – please ask them to demonstrate it to you!!!!
Many thanks.

Magic of the Musicals
The show was a resounding success and raised just over €4,100 for the school. A very big thanks to everyone involved in making the production the success that it was!
Final swimming lessons for Ms Williams 2nd and Miss Glendon’s 3rd Classes tomorrow. Please ensure your child has their swimming gear with them. Many thanks.

Swimming lessons will commence for Ms Hasset’s 2nd Class and Ms Cluxton 1st Classes on Friday 6th March

SCHOOL CLOSURE - REMINDER

We have been approved by the Department of Education to get sustained support in relation to the changes to the Primary Language Curriculum and this results in a school closure for the children
The school will be CLOSED FOR THE CHILDREN on WEDNESDAY 25TH MARCH SCHOOL to facilitate training for teachers
There will be a further 1 day school closure for the children in the last school term.
Exact details to follow.

World Book Day is NEXT Thursday 5th of March- We would love the children to dress as their favourite book character from their favourite book and to bring in their book to share with the classmates.
This year, to celebrate World Book Day we will have SNU Book Buddies taking place in a number of classrooms. Children from our senior classes will be sharing and reading much-loved books with the children in the junior classes.
As part of the dress-up day on the 5th March there is going to be a fundraiser for a 6th Class pupil’s wheelchair sports club - Lilywhite Wheelers. The children are asked to bring in €1/€2 as a donation to his club.
We are looking forward to a great day!

Best wishes to our 6th class pupils who will be  making their Confirmation at 11am on Thursday next 5th March.
We wish them all well on this very special and holy Sacrament.

Seachtain na Gaeilge will be happening the week of the 9th -13th of March

Revised information for schools, pre-schools and third level institutions on the Coronavirus

27/2/2020

The Department of Education and Skills has updated information for schools, preschools and third level institutions on Covid-19; provided by the Department of Health and HSE Health Protection Surveillance Centre following a meeting of the National Public Health Emergency Team.

Public health doctors are available to liaise with schools and advise on precautions if staff and/or students have any concerns.
Anyone who has been to affected regions in the last 14 days and has a cough, shortness of breath, breathing difficulties or fever should self-isolate and phone their GP immediately.

Anyone who has travelled from the affected regions and has no symptoms should visit http://www.hse.ie/ for advice.
The most important action we can take to protect ourselves from Covid-19 is regular hand-washing and good respiratory hygiene.
As further advice or information is provided, it will be issued to schools and posted on the Department’s website.

Travel advice for all Irish citizens is provided through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Note - The Covid-19 affected regions are listed as mainland China, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Iran and the following regions of northern Italy - Lombardy, Veneto Emilia-Romagna and Piedmont.

The PDFs linked to here should be read to include the latest affected regions in northern Italy (Lombardy, Veneto Emilia-Romagna and Piedmont) and elsewhere as noted above. These PDFs will be updated accordingly as soon as possible.

Dear Parents / Guardians

**Mid Term Break** – school closes at normal time tomorrow Friday next 14th February and will reopen on Monday 24th February.  Enjoy the rest everyone and if you are travelling take care!

Magic of the Musicals
What a wow of a show last night!!
It thrilled all those who were present and was a wonderful display of musical talent and teamwork on stage by the Scoil na Naomh Uilig pupils. It was a fabulous showcase for them!
Ms Coyle and her production team put in many hours of hard work to produce a wonderful show and the results were clearly evident last night So many other people from the school community were working hard in the background helping to make the musical the first class production that it is.
Well done to everyone involved, you must feel very proud!!!
I am sure tonight’s show will be just as amazing and good luck to everyone!!

The children are asked to bring in €1/€2 as a donation to his club.
We are looking forward to a great day!

Fitbits / Smartwatches
There has been a notable increase in the number of children wearing fitbits and smartwatches to school and it has caused some consternation when they have misplaced or lost their devices. More concerning there are privacy concerns attached to having digital devices in the school and it has therefore been decided that children are not allowed to bring them to school.

School Nurse
We are delighted to announce that we have a newly appointed Nurse who will be starting with us on our return from mid-term on February 24th . We welcome Nurse Tina and wish her many years of happiness amongst us.
We also remember Triona and again wish her many years of good health in her retirement.

Seachtain na Gaeilge will be happening the week of the 9th -13th of March
