We tested one balloon and saw that it burst when teacher squeezed it. The same thing happened when two balloons were tested.
We decided to test how 10-12 balloons would cope under the pressure of a table.. Christian then stood on the table to apply more pressure, no balloons burst.
Jim then stood up to help apply more pressure. Still no balloons burst.
Niamh stood up and the outcome was the same. Finally we got Róisín to join in, so four pupils were standing on the upside down table (being securely held by Mr. O Toole) and applying a lot of pressure on the balloons yet none of them burst.
We thought this was a really fun experiment, most of us guessed the balloons would burst. Carley wasn't convinced though, she guessed correctly that the balloons would spread the weight (load) among them and be able to withstand the pressure being applied
