It was World Book Day today and SNU was incredibly busy with lots of different activities taking place in all of the streams. We were lucky enough to be visited by Irish author Jackie Byrne, who spoke to us about her series of books 'The Secrets of Grindlewood'. She read the children an excerpt from the books, answered questions about being an author and writing and also brought gifts of posters and bookmarks for the children. She even passed on a secret discount code especially for the students of SNU who wanted to read more of the stories.
As well as this in the morning we took part in a buddy reading scheme with the children from Ms. Burke's Senior Infant class. We read with the children from the class, talked about our favourite books and made little bookmarks to commemorate the day. A special thanks to all of the children in Ms. Burke's class for being such great reading buddies and we hope we can visit again before the end of the year.
A special shout out to the members of the Oaks who fit in all of this while still managing to sing at the confirmation with the school choir. Well done all.
Check out some great pictures from the day below.
