Counties, Rivers And Lakes

At the minute we are learning all about the physical features of Ireland. We have spent the last few weeks revising the counties and we are now learning about the rivers and lakes in Ireland. We learned a song last year about the rivers which we have been revising:

The Rippling Rivers of Ireland!

Dublin’s on the Liffey,
Yes, Yes!
Cork is on the Lee,
Limerick on the Shannon.

Waterford’s on the Suir,
Kilkenny’s on the Nore.
New Ross is on the Barrow,
We’ve heard of them before.

Wexford’s on the Slaney,
Yes, Yes!
Drogheda’s on the Boyne,
Belfast on the Lagan.

Derry’s on the Foyle,
Ballina’s on the Moy.
Donegal’s on the Erne,
So Goodbye, Goodbye, Goodbye.

We also played a really fun interactive game based on the rivers and lakes. We are going to learn the rivers and lakes in one of the provinces each night. The game can be used for revision!

There are also lots of games to help us practice our counties as these are very important!
