End of the Year!We have come to the end of Junior Infants! This year has been very different but the boys and girls in the Foxgloves have been super! They have worked really hard and have been very brave. Ms Mellett is so proud of all of them and she has loved being their teacher this year. We have had a really fun Active Week this week. Now that the holidays are starting we can all take a break, relax and have lots of fun! We are all really looking forward to being in Senior Infants in September! Check out a few more photos of what we got up to during the last couple of weeks: 8th-11th June 2020We had another great week this week. Our theme was 'summer' so we did lots of fun summer related activities. We did some dot-to-dot summer pictures and we made Mr Sun art, Ms Mellett enjoyed seeing all the funny faces the boys and girls gave their Mr Suns! We practiced our sounds and read some books on the Oxford Owl. We went on a summer walk and we used all our senses to explore the world around us. We learnt about being safe in the water which is so important and we also learnt about perseverance. The boys and girls in the Foxgloves have shown lots of perseverance over the past few months and have worked so hard at home. Ms Mellett is so proud of them!! Check out the photos of what we did this week! 3rd & 4th June 2020We only had 2 days of school work this week because of the Bank Holiday but we still worked really hard and learnt lots of new things. We practiced adding numbers in Maths and we did a fun Maths trail! We learnt how to write the letter 'k' in cursive handwriting and we revised our Jolly Phonics sounds and practiced our word boxes. We learnt all about seeing things from other people's perspective too. We all enjoyed the gorgeous weather at the weekend- lots of us were having fun splashing about in our pools in the garden! Check out our photos to see our great work and the fun things we did this week. 25th- 28th MaY 2020In the Foxgloves we have all been enjoying the beautiful weather this week! We were all out and about going for walks and playing in our gardens. We also did other fun things like arts and crafts, science experiments, gardening and dress up! In our school work this week we learned lots of new things. In Maths, we learnt about ordering numbers correctly, finding which number goes before, between and after. We revised our Jolly Phonics and practiced our word boxes and tricky words. We read some books online on the Oxford Owl website. We wrote out our news in cursive handwriting and learnt how to write the cursive letter 'h'. We have been doing lots and lots of practice with our handwriting and Ms Mellett can see that everyone is making big improvements! Well done boys and girls! In science we learnt about the life cycle of a butterfly and drew some lovely butterfly pictures. Check out our photos below to see our fantastic work and what we have been up to at home this week! 17th-21st May 2020 We did lots of great work this week in the Foxgloves. We wrote our news in cursive writing again and we all did a super job! We learnt how to write the letter 'f' in cursive writing- it was a tricky one but we didn't give up and tried our best. We read some more books on the Oxford Owl and in Maths we learnt about the days of the week and about which days make up the week and which make up the weekend. We also learnt all about the number zero in Maths. We told our families all about school, our classroom and our classmates. We drew some lovely drawings of room 2 and we put in so many great details in our drawings. Ms. Mellett was so impressed! We played in the beautiful sunshine this week and got lots of fresh air and exercise. Lots of the boys and girls played with and minded their little siblings, we are really good big brothers and sisters! 11th-14th May 2020We have had another busy week of home schooling this week. We started writing out our news in cursive handwriting this week. Ms Mellett knew that this was going to be very tricky but she was so proud of everyone for sticking with it and trying their best! We learnt how to write the letter 'b' in cursive handwriting and practiced our word boxes and our tricky words. We read some books on the Oxford Owl website and in Maths we learnt about capacity and we went back over number 5. We found some lovely sets of 5 when we were out for a walk! We also learnt about the orchestra and musical instruments in Music. We did other fun things with our families too like art and going to the park. Some of us even had a social distancing playdate with our pals! Ms Mellett really misses seeing all the boys and girls everyday but she is so proud of them for working so hard and adapting so well to this new set up. 4th- 8th of May 2020All the boys and girls in room 2 were keeping busy and enjoying the beautiful sunshine this week! We learnt about weight and we practiced number 4 again in Maths. We learnt about the post office and about the journey of a letter. Some of us made a pretend post office in our houses which was lots of fun! In religion, we learnt about Mary and we made some May alters. We wrote the letter 'l' in cursive handwriting and we practiced our tricky words. The children did other activities with their families like going for walks, cycling our bikes, art, gardening, baking, playing board games and having BBQs! Check out some photos of us below! 27th of April- 1st of May 2020We have had another busy week in the Foxgloves! We learnt more about money and practiced making sets of 3 and writing number 3 in Maths. We learnt about healthy eating and being responsible too. We learnt how to write the letter in 'e' in cursive handwriting. We did lots of other fun things with our families like feeding the ducks, playing music, making Lego, skipping and baking. Sadie also has a new baby brother called Archie! What great news! Ms Mellett loved seeing everyone's photos and hearing all the news. We all miss school and seeing each other, hopefully we will be back together really soon. Ms Mellett was so happy to see the photos that were sent to her! Everyone is doing lots of hard work but also doing fun things like baking, art and playing outside in the sun. We are in Junior Infants and our teacher is Ms Mellett. STEm ActivityWe recently did a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) activity in class. We had to work in pairs. Ms Mellett gave us some cups, lollipop sticks and some counting bears. We had to find a way to use all of the cups and lollipop sticks to make a structure for all the bears to stand on. We had lots of fun and came up with lots of different ways to solve the problem- check out some of our ideas! |
