We have been learning all about World War 2 in The Elms. We were so excited to work on our History projects which involved us designing, making and presenting our Anderson Shelter models. Have a look at our amazing creations!
Over the past few weeks of remote schooling, we have been learning how to write Cinquain Poems. The children in The Elms have worked so hard on their poems, reviewing, editing and illustrating their work.
It was so difficult to pick only three to publish here but I'm sure you'll agree, these three poems deserve a place on our class blog. Well done to Méabh with her tasty 'Apple' poem, Caiden and his stealthy 'Lion' poem and Maxine with her dazzling 'Snowflake poem!
6th Class, Uile le Chéile
From Junior Infants, to where we are now,
We’ve done our best and we are proud,
6th class is where we belong,
All together, we stay strong.
We’ve grown up so fast,
And had such a blast,
We know these memories were built to last,
We’re leaving soon,
So we give this to you,
As a special thanks to the entire school.
Uile le chéile, all together
Uile le chéile, friends forever,
Uile le chéile, a talented team,
Uile le chéile x 3,
Follow your dreams.
No matter your ability or your nationality,
At Scoil na Naomh Uilig, we’re one big family,
We’d like to thank the teachers and all the SNAs
For showing us the way while we work and play
We pray, we grow and learn together,
At Scoil na Naomh Uilig we get better and better,
We are all equal, surrounded by good people,
No matter who you are, you’re a shining star.
Chorus (Follow your dreams…)
Uile le chéile, táimid éirmiúil
Uile le chéile, táimid cáirdiúil
Uile le chéile, táimid measúil
Uile le chéile, táimid bródúil
Chorus (Follow your dreams…)
Welcome back! We are really looking forward to a positive year ahead and preparing for secondary school. Here's to a great school year!
We had a super time in the run up to Christmas in the Elms. It was our turn to take part in the Christmas show. We performed a Rap, sang and played tin whistle for a packed hall of parents. Santa arrived in style to say hello to all the boys and girls, and we also made some fabulous Christmas decorations, had a Hot Chocolate Challenge and created and customised some festive Gingerbread Christmas trees! Delish!
Have a look at our lovely classroom and a sample of our amazing work that we have completed this year! We have undertaken science projects, created some fabulous art and worked on some very cool maths activities!
In September, we had a wonderful day out to the Curragh Racecourse. It was so much fun and so educational. We learned about a day in the life of a Jockey, how to make a horseshoe from the resident expert and we even got to have a walk on the course and learn how the horses are trained and ridden! We got to meet some very knowledgable staff and trainers and received our own freshly made horshshoe and giftbags to take home. We thoroughly enjoyed and were grateful for the experience!
Some of our amazing costumes from this year's Halloween celebrations in SNU. We had a ball on our annual Witch Walk scaring all the parents!
End of Year 2018
It's hard to believe we're almost at the end of third class. Here's a glimpse of some of the things that The Elms got up to this year.
We've had a busy term one in Third Class with the school's anniversary, the science exhibition in the library, Santa, snow and the Christmas concert. Not to mention all the schoolwork! Have a look at out pictures so far this year.
Welcome to our blog page. Ms Byrne is our teacher.
