The Daffodils had an absolute blast today for Sports Day. We enjoyed different relay races, practised our throwing and soccer skills and we also had lots of fun playing parachute games. We had egg and spoon races, wheelbarrow races, space hopper faces, three legged races and many more. The children enjoyed dancing and hulahooping to music and everyone relaxed with a treat at the end. Well done to all the boys and girls for excellent behaviour and teamwork.

The Daffodils did a fantastic job on their art work this week. We made hot air balloons with the children in them. The boys and girls also worked very hard on their free writing prompt 'If I could fly in a hot air balloon....' Great work by everyone!
In keeping up with the theme of space, the children have created wonderful dioramas of the solar system, where we learned the correct order of the planets from the sun. We had lots of fun making these!
We have been learning all about the solar system and the planets with Múinteoir Daniela, who has been on on placement with us for the past few weeks. The boys and girls carried out fantastic research in their groups and also completed individual projects at home, which everyone did an amazing job on. Have a look at the impressive display of work from the children in the Daffodils. Everyone should be very proud of themselves for the creativity and the effort put into each project to make sure it was well researched and that the information was well presented. Well done everyone! :)
We are revising what we know about money this week. We have previously learned how to count different amounts of money up to €1, how to make an amount up to €1 in different ways and we have also learned how to find change from 50c and €1. Now we are working with counting and making amounts of money up to €2 how to write an amount as cent or euro (___c or €_.__) and we are learning how to find change from €2.
Here are some games we will be exploring to help us to understand money: Busy at Maths interactive activities http://data.cjfallon.ie/resources/19626/activity-62/index.html http://data.cjfallon.ie/resources/19626/activity-130/index.html http://data.cjfallon.ie/resources/19626/activity-131/index.html http://data.cjfallon.ie/resources/19626/activity-133/index.html http://data.cjfallon.ie/resources/19626/activity-134/index.html http://data.cjfallon.ie/resources/19626/activity-135/index.html Topmarks https://www.topmarks.co.uk/money/toy-shop-money/eur Wordwall Games https://wordwall.net/resource/15306003 https://wordwall.net/resource/15305683 https://wordwall.net/resource/15306621 https://wordwall.net/resource/11718993 Other https://mathsframe.co.uk/en/resources/resource/44/solve_2_step_money_problems_ https://natwest.mymoneysense.com/students/students-5-8/the-change-game/ https://natwest.mymoneysense.com/students/students-5-8/coin-cruncher/ Well done to Patrick for being this week's star of the week. Patrick has been working very hard in school, especially on his handwriting and has been enjoying getting involved in all activities. Well done Patrick!
We are having fun learning about space with Múinteoir Daniela. We are working on group projects on the planets and we will also complete an individual project at home. We watched videos on how people live in space, wash their hair, eat food and go to sleep!!
We also learned alot of facts about the different planets. We were very excited to hear that the first robot helicoptor took flight on Mars last this week! We got to see pictures and videos of what Mars really looks like. Here are some links that are helping us with our research for our projects
