A very big congratulations to this girl who is our Star of the Week! She works so hard in all subject areas everyday. She is kind and thoughtful and never seeks any praise or attention for the great work she does! Maith thú, you set a great example!

We were all very excited in the Clovers to find an extremely official letter addressed to Sadie on Tuesday morning! It was from Tánaiste Leo Varadkar! He thanked Sadie for taking the time to write to him and for her kind words. He encouraged everybody to continue to follow the safety guidelines to ensure we all have a healthy, happy Christmas!
The Clovers have gone to great lengths at home in recent weeks to produce extremely impressive Volcano projects! Some people created presentations about this topic, some people drew diagrams and some people built their very own volcanoes. We learned so many interesting facts through our presentations, here are just some examples:
- When magma reaches the Earth's surface it then becomes known as lava. -Mount Fuji is is fact three volcanoes combined- at the bottom is Komitake, which was surmounted by Ko Fuji (“Old Fuji”) and, finally, by the most recent, Shin Fuji (“New Fuji”). -At any given moment there are approximately twenty volcanoes erupting around the world. -Mount Vesuvius has over 17,000 years of recorded eruption history! -The tallest volcano in our solar system is not actually on Earth! (challenge: can you find out where it is located?) As we were learning about writing letters this month, Ms. Scanlon's class gave us the great idea of writing letters to gratitude to people we felt deserved a special "thank you" for things they have done for us this year. Some people wrote to parents, grandparents, friends and relations whilst others wrote to members of the community such as teachers, firemen and doctors and some people wrote to members of government and heads of state. We posted our letters this week and look forward to hopefully receiving some responses! :)
