Our school has a new Prayer Petition Box designed by the two sixth classes. Yesterday in preparation for Catholic Schools Week. Two children for 6th class represented Scoil na Naomh Uilig at a special mass in Carlow based on the theme Called to be a Family of Families. The Prayer petition box was blessed by Bishop Denis
The staff of Scoil Na Naomh Uilig kindly donated items for the Christmas Hampers. This year there were 8 hampers won by students. The hampers were all full of wonderful treats and various food items.
Well done to all our winners:
Ms. O Sullivan has been teaching in our school for 9 years. This was her last assembly as she is moving back to her native Cork this summer. Pupils who Ms. O Sullivan had taught and worked with over the years performed a variety of songs and poems for her. We are really going to miss her around our school but wish her the very best for the future.
Today in assembly we had a very special guest. Duchess called to see us. She is an Autism assist dog and belongs to Kelly who is in the Poppies. We were told all about how Duchess helps Kelly when she is out for a walk or down the town doing the shopping with mammy.
We are holding a civvies day this Friday in order to raise some much needed funds for these dogs. It costs a staggering €38,000 to raise and train one of these dogs.
Below is a picture of Kelly with her mam and Duchess.
There were plenty of treats to choose from at this year's Easter Cake Sale. There wasn't a crumb left by the end!
Mr. Morrissey (Teacher), Jake Dobbyn and Arron Collins presented Dympna Galvin, Volunteer and one of the founding members of The Dining Room, Newbridge with a Gazebo purchased by the pupils of the school. This gazeboo will allow the Dining Room to continue to provide hot food, soup/sandwiches, tea/coffee etc. to the homeless, those in emergency accommodation and those struggling in their own homes.
Every year the staff of Scoil Na Naomh Uilig donate items for christmas hampers which are raffled off at our last assembly of the term.
Each pupil will take away a hamper full of food and goodies. Today we had six winners. Congratulations!

We were sad to see Ms. Langan leave our school after 8 years. At assembly Ms. Langan was presented with a book containing pictures, best wishes and comments from all the pupils in the school. Her past pupils all put on special performances during the assembly. We wish her the very best back in Donegal, she will be missed here in Scoil Na Naomh Uilig.
